Church Baby Shower

Tomorrow there is a baby shower for a couple named Amber and Shane. They are expecting a little girl October 1st and I have been working on a few things for them. I made the blanket below and will be giving them three of the girly burp cloths that I've had made up for a little while now. I also went to the store tonight and got them something off their registry...a health and grooming kit. To be honest I couldn't believe no one had purchased it yet but it was $19 I suppose. Luckily for me, I went to wally world, where I work so I got a 10% discount. I ended up spending about $27 for the kit, gift bag, card and some paper to shove in the bag. I don't think that's too bad considering I made everything else out of materials I already had just waiting to be sewn together!

 

Anyway, the reason I'm posting this is because tonight while shopping I realized that in a few short months my family and friends will be doing the same for me and Joshua. Maybe not making burp cloths and blankets but they will be celebrating with us and wanting to purchase stuff for our little bean. Up until tonight I didn't really want a baby shower because none of our family has money to really spend. As I was shopping I thought back to a post I read that said baby showers are a time for celebrating the little ones life and the soon to be arrival of that child...who better to spend that celebration of life with than family and friends? That person was right...I shouldn't take that away from anyone who wants to throw us a shower...if anyone does. I know my mom does! LOL. 

In a few short months Joshua and I will be celebrating the upcoming arrival of our little bundle with our family and friends. And you know, even if everyone showed up empty handed that would be okay because it's the reason behind the shower...not all the gifts.
