Hanging A Heavy Window On The Wall
A few months ago a bought a wonderful nine paned window from a friend in Ohio. Up until today, that window sat in the garage while I tried to figure out a way to hang it - I wasn't looking that hard until the last few days. I came across a few sites that had different ideas, heavy frame wire, french cleats and so on. So I took a trip to lowes with the intention of getting a french cleat type item so that my window would be flush to the wall because I did not want to deal with wire. Dealing with wire would require me to cover the windows entirely and that was not my intention at all! Below is what I came up with.
Hang Man Picture Hanging System. 18" long and holds up to 200lbs! Cost around $11 at Lowes |
Attach the other piece to the item you are hanging. |
Put the two together and wallah, all done and flush with the wall. All of this took me maybe 5-10 minutes. That was with Rory "helping". |
Doesn't it look pretty!? I'm going to put photos in the center of each window once they are picked out and printed. |
very cute! what a handy gadget!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to put pictures on the inside or outside of the glass
ReplyDeleteIn an effort to help rid the world of typos: It's "Voila" not walla. For a little history, it's French, and I believe it'd be from Vois (look/see) and La (this/ it)... :)
ReplyDeleteI also have a nine pane Window to hang. Thanks so much for the information! I didn't know how I was going to hang it.
ReplyDeletePerfect, I have old windows that have been sitting while I figure out how to hang them also. Thank you for the information!

I also have a window to hang and I'm going to use it to display a seasonal wreath. That way I just change out the wreath for the appropriate season/holiday. This was the most helpful advice so far! Thanks!
