Daily Scheduling

Not sure how many of you know that not only am I a mommy to our own awesome little girl but I'm also the child care provider for another little girl whom I've had for almost a year now! Sarah came into my life when she was just 7wks old and turned one not too long ago, she's like another child to me - that doesn't sleep here at nights or weekends.

Anyway, for months I've been racking my brain trying to come up with some sort of schedule for the kiddos. With them both being so young it's not like I could really come up with set times for anything. Now that they are a bit older and I know there sleep patterns I've decided to set up a schedule for them. A schedule that will enhance their learning, creativity and let's be honest, make my day easier because I will have some sort of routine. It will also allow me to work on my school courses during the day occasionally instead of having to wait for Rory to go to bed at 8pm every night before getting started.

Here's what I've come up with.

Toddler Daily Schedule

7:30 – 8:30 Arrivals (Free play)
8:30 – 9:00 Snack time / Potty / Diapering
9:00 - 9:45 Circle time / Reading / Music
9:45 – 10:00 Diapering / Potty Break
10:00 -12:00 Nap Time / Potty / Diapering when woken
12:00 -1:00 Lunch Time
1:00 – 2:00 Free Play/ Potty / Diapering
2:00 – 2:30 Arts and Crafts
2:30 – 3:00 ABC's, Numbers, Shapes
3:00 – 3:30 Snack / Potty / Diapering
3:30: – 4:00 Walk Outside (Weather Permitting)
4:00 – 4:30 Structure Play
4:30 – 5:30 Free Play / Potty / Diapering
5:00-5:30 Home

Now, I'm not going to be a HUGE stickler on this. I know with potty training and life in general some of this may or may not go down like I have planned. I'm just glad I will have some sort of plan for my days. When baby #2 arrives I might have to rethink all of this!

  1. Good luck with this! But I totally get it, once I made our schedule I was able to stop panicking. It really keeps the train from crashing. Yes, it is never exactly on but when you feel things speeding out of control you have something concrete to go back to!! See, and it took you a lot less time to figure this out than it did me!

  2. I just feel like both girls are getting to the age where they can actually sit and do something for a little while, like draw or sing and dance since they both love music.

I do not expect this to be right on but I really need some sort of routine.
