Pictureless Frames
A few months ago while at the sister in laws house I ran across a lot of photo backless photo frames. These aren't your every day frames either, these are old and many of them HUGE. I told my SIL that I would like to take some whenever we had the truck and then one day she offered to bring them up for me! Well, so far the frames have simply sat. Some of them I gave to a few photographer friends and the others are either in the garage or hanging on my walls pictureless. I actually like the non photo look but I couldn't manage to look at the missmatched colors anymore.
Last night I took a trip to hobby lobby to check out spray paint and decided $6 a can was too much so I hauled my butt and miss Rory's too a few blocks away to walmart where I found the same paint for the price. (I know people think that place is the devil but when you're on a budget it's not so bad!). Today I took the frames outside and spent a whopping 10 minutes spraying them all a flat black to match the other frames in my living room. Not only did they turn out looking much cleaner but they dried in like 5 minutes! The can said 25 minutes or less, I'm sure being outside had something to do with the quick dry. (I also got a lecture from the mother in law on not spray painting because I'm pregnant, I'm stubborn and I went outside. I was also sure to face the same direction as the wind so it blew away from me - that count?)
I don't have before photos, bad DIY blog I know but here's what they look like now. The two Oval ones were gold before and the center one was a very old natural wood frame. Don't get me wrong, I love natural wood but it just wasn't nice looking for this piece.

Some of the design on the big frame. It's very eloquent. |
