I Made A Dress

Okay, so to be honest, this is the second time I attempted making a dress like this in two days. The first one was one of Rory's long sleeve shirts and some adorable hot pink polka dot fabric for the bottom - it turned out too small because I didn't measure her waist : ( Sad times. I suppose that's what I get for just winging it though.

I knew I couldn't give up. So I ransacked both mine and her closets and found a tank top that had been handed down from her older cousin that would be big for a while yet and a dress of mine that had gotten too short. I cut the lower half of my dress off for the skirt and cut the tank top a few inches shorter. When I was finished I wrapped the straps on the top to make it fit her a bit better because the straps were too long. I also sewed on a thick ribbon where the top and bottom came together. It's not perfect but it was a great experience for me for just winging things and seeing what works and what doesn't. I know the next ones I make will go much smoother.

What really matters though is that she loves it. She loves it so much she is wearing it to church today with a white cardigan over top and pink tights. ;)
