DIY Wedding Invites
I am crazy. I volunteered to make 150 wedding invites, by hand! Here's how I'm doing it.
First I went to Joanns and purchased white and red card stock for $2.39 per pack of 50 (normally $3.99).
Fold the Sheet of Card Stock in Half. This will cut your cutting time in half!
Trace another card or something rectangular / square that matches the size you want. Then cut. You should end up with two rectangles. For a reference I use an Easter card Rory got this year that way I could find envelopes for it....hopefully!
Do the same with the white card stock only make it smaller all the way around based on how much of the background color you want showing.
You should end up with something like this photo above.
I had already worked on the wording and had it saved in a document so I simply stuck my cut white card stock in the printer. (If you need a template please leave a comment with your email and I will be happy to get you one!)
I then used an all purpose glue stick and glued the two sheets together.
Next I laid down the lace.
I did the one along the side first and then the top, so the top lays across the one going long ways.
Above is a photo of how the back will end up. I didn't cut off the lace because I wanted a smooth look over the edges of the invite. I may end up cutting out corners or backing to lay over the lace so that it looks cleaner.
This is the finished invitation. Looks pretty good right!? Only 149 more to make.
My Cost - 3 Packs of Card Stock at $2.39 per pack = $7.17
Ink - Already Had and if you don't it will vary on what type you need.
Yellow Lace - Not only did I have just ONE pack of this vintage lace I realized it wouldn't be easy to find. I didn't realize at first that it was a vintage lace...I got it for free from a women getting rid of craft supplies. Luckily I did find some though on Etsy and paid $8.50 with shipping for 6 more packs.
Total - Let's call it $17 with tax.
The invites won't have the location. They are going to insert an index card with the location on one side and a map on the other. I think that's a great idea!
lok great, thats a huge undertaking- good luck!
