Home School

The hubby and I have had lots of talks about home schooling. I know Rory is only 16 months old (today!!) but the more she learns and grows the more I'm wanting to keep her home. If I'm going to home school I want to travel with her. I don't want to just stay here and say this is the Grand Canyon, maybe you can go there when you get your own money. Seriously, I think learning on the go or at least semi go would be a great thing. We could plan vacations and road trips based on what she would be learning. We don't even have to leave town for some things. There is a tv show called Sid The Science Kid that Rory loves and they always go to the science center when they are studying about water, electricity, almost anything and these are supposedly preschool kids I believe. The show is great! I have actually learned stuff from watching it!! Plus it's something I could totally do with Rory and maybe even the other two I keep if their parents let me. I know, it's so much easier said than done.

So I'm curious for those that home school. What are the reasons you chose to do so? What would you do over if you could? Do you get to travel? Do you take advantage of the local programs for kids? What about co-ops, are there any in your area?

I still have plenty of time before Rory starts "real school" but I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing for her. She is a social butterfly. Would I be cutting out her social life by keeping her home or would the activities and programs be enough? Oh the decisions of a parent.
