35 wk appt.

Just got back from my appt and this is the first time I've not liked one of the PA students who did it. LOL. First of all she couldn't find Rory's HB so she asked me where they usually find it and I told her it was right where she had the doppler but there was a chance that she could be higher since she's been moving around so much. So she barely finds her HB (By this I mean she was in the vicinity but not on it so it was more like the echo of the HB) and only listens for like 10 seconds. Usually they listen to it for a good 30 seconds to make sure the rhythm is good and all. Then she did my fundal height measurement and I don't even think she did that right...she didn't seem to do it the same as all the other times I've had it done. Anyway...she said I'm measuring at 34wks, which could be true I suppose but I've been measuring right on all the other times and I know I've grown more than one centimeter. Then she gives me the Strep B Test which is fine but I thought I was supposed to get a Pelvic exam too (this is what they told me would be happening two weeks ago) and she didn't do it. Well at the end of my appt she tells me that I'm going to come back in two weeks then weekly. Not what I was told two weeks ago either but whatever. 

Anyway, after she leaves the room within 30 seconds my actual dr comes in to correct her. I mean I barely had my pants on when he came in the room. He actually apologized and said, no you are 35wks and we will be seeing you every week from here on out and doing a pelvic exam every week as well. He then went on to ask me all the questions she did about how I was feeling (just to double check since the girl was clearly not that great). He also told me that since I have chosen to go to Cox that I have to do an epidural interview at the hospital and to set that up so the paperwork is all signed before I go. I do not plan on getting an epi but I guess it's better to go through the interview and sign my name on a paper saying I understand the risks than dealing with BS while I'm in labor if I want one. 

So in the end I am just happy Rory is doing okay and that next week it will be the Nurse Practitioner doing my exam since my dr won't be available. I'm actually glad the PA student didn't do a pelvic exam today because I'm sure it wouldn't have been great. Jan 12th is going to be a busy day for me...I have my doctor appt at 10:30, Epi interview at 1:30 and meeting the pediatrician at 5:30. I'm so happy I've decided on where to deliver though because it has taken a load off me.
